Because of You Campaign Wrap Up

The Northeast State Foundation once again hosted the annual Because of You Campaign (BOYC) week, Sept. 26 – Oct. 3, 2016.

This fund-raiser was an opportunity for our college clubs, organizations and teams to raise funds for their favorite scholarships, programs, and projects. We celebrated with a kick-off luncheon at the quad on the Blountville campus on Sept. 26 and culminated with a check ceremony Oct. 3.

Throughout the week, nine teams provided food, cookbook, mums and craft sales, talent shows, and a 5k race. The door decorating contest was a success this year with nine teams competing. The winners were: Best Message – Transfer Hall; Most School Spirit – Grant Development; Most Creative – Career Services; and Honorable Mention – Veterans Affairs. Faculty and staff were invited to dress in their favorite decade fashions for the kickoff on Sept. 26. There were several delightful outfits, including hippie,s and Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The prize went to Debbie Beverly for her groovy hippie costume!

The highlight of the week was our homecoming event on Thursday with the carnival and food trucks. There was a news conference with lawmakers and former Northeast State presidents in attendance. Jeff Little provided the entertainment. A concert on Thursday evening featured Fastball and The Breakfast Club.

This year we raised an impressive $76,940 through the events and payroll donations. The BOYC is always a great opportunity for everyone to donate to their scholarships or to programs of their choice.
